the last word
On May 8, 2011, at 2:40PM EST, I hit Enter and submitted my first blog post.
The post you are now reading is my 75th.
The blog was begun as a means of motivating myself to finish a book by the same title, “The Best Advice So Far,” which I started one year ago this month.
This morning – July 25, 2011, at 3:18AM EST – I wrote the last word, completing that book.
I considered musing here about how it feels to accomplish such a monumental task. I considered outlining the journey. The wide-eyed beginnings with the lofty goal of completing in three months. The months-long dry spell somewhere in the middle. The combination of numbness and exhilaration as I finished the last sentence in the quiet hours, alone. The miles of colorful landscape in between.
Instead, I will simply say thank you – to every one who has read and commented and encouraged.
Who has shared stories.
Who has inspired with your lives.
Who has walked this journey with me.
Today, I will enjoy the moment.
Today, I choose to celebrate.
Bravo !!!
So excited about your part. We may not have our names in lights together, but they’ll at least be in print, side by side.
Congratulations! It’s been a pleasure being part of your written journey. Well Done!
Thanks, Steve. You’ve been part of the ACTUAL journey, too.
Awesome, congratulations on the accomplishment! Now comes the hard part, the editing…
I’m really editing as I go, so it’s more arranging the chapters and formatting, then final reference checks internally. Doesn’t seem too overwhelming a task!
Congratulations! Can hardly wait for my copy. You are an inspiration to me, your mom. I love you.
Thanks, mom. No one has believed in me longer! I love you, too.
